The Best VPNs for Brazil in 2023

Whether you’re living in Brazil or just visiting, you’ll need a VPN to access many parts of the internet. While Brazil’s internet is quite open and censorship-free, you’ll still be blocked from some streaming, shopping, and banking websites.

For example, your Netflix US or Amazon Prime account.

But finding the right VPN for Brazil isn’t easy. Many promise everything you need from a VPN but fail to deliver. They’re slow, unreliable, untrustworthy, and just plain terrible to use. Most won’t get around geographical restrictions, and many will actually make you less safe while you use them (due to shady business practices).

To save you considerable time and frustration, I’ve tested all the best VPNs to see how they perform in Brazil. The eight I’ve listed in this quick guide won’t just guarantee access to the entire internet while you’re in Brazil (or anywhere else), they’ll also boost your privacy, improve your overall browsing experience, and much more.

I’ll take you through the pros and cons of each pick in detail, but if you’re in a rush, here are my choices for the best VPNs in Brazil:

  1. NordVPN - My top VPN for Brazil. You’re guaranteed unrestricted access to the internet from anywhere in the world, along with industry-best security, fast connections, and much more. Comes with a risk-free 30-day money-back guarantee.
  2. Surfshark - A budget-friendly VPN that doesn’t skimp on features, speed, and security. It’s got everything you need, including some exceptional privacy tools.
  3. ExpressVPN - One of the fastest VPNs available, it works with every major streaming site, including Netflix.
  4. CyberGhost VPN - Longtime top ranked VPN, with great price and speeds.
  5. PrivateVPN - Great value VPN that works well for most streaming, especially in Brazil.

I’ve picked these eight VPNs for Brazil out of hundreds of competitors after testing each one thoroughly. My criteria for inclusion in this list included:

  • An extensive, worldwide network of servers.
  • Fast connection speeds no matter where you’re based.
  • Able to access every major streaming site and other restricted websites.
  • Strict privacy policies (including zero logs or record keeping).
  • Easy to use and excellent value.

I’ll go into much more detail on each aspect throughout the guide, and how each VPN performed. You can also scroll to the bottom and read a summary of my testing methodology for more information.

Best VPNs for Brazil in 2023

So, now I’ll dig a little deeper into the best VPNs for Brazil, and how they performed during my tests. With this information, you’ll find the best VPN not just for Brazil, but for your specific needs, too.

NordVPN is the best VPN on the market, including for use in Brazil. Its industry-leading security features include 256-bit AES encryption (the same standard used by banks, governments, militaries, and spy agencies) and DNS leak protection.

NordVPN adds another few layers of privacy on top of all these security features. It’s based in privacy-friendly Panama, far away from the Five Eyes surveillance alliance. And it has astrict no-logs policy, so none of your private data is ever recorded by the VPN. Even if it wanted to, NordVPN could never share your data with a third party.

Meanwhile, the automatic kill-switch blocks your internet connection in case of disruptions, so your data or location is never exposed for even a second.

It also works well with every major streaming website. I tested NordVPN on Netflix, Telecine Play, Amazon Prime Video, and many more – in every case, I was able to get access via NordVPN’s Brazil servers. And because it’s incredibly fast, I could stream in HD without it stalling, pixelating, or buffering.

NordVPN protects up to six simultaneous devices on a single subscription and offers a risk-free 30-day money-back guarantee.

BEST VPN FOR BRAZIL: NordVPN is my #1 choice. It combines lightning-fast connections with airtight security, and works with every major streaming site. Whatever you need a VPN in Brazil for, NordVPN can absolutely deliver. Comes with a risk-free 30-day money-back guarantee.

Surfshark is a budget-friendly VPN that still outshines many more expensive VPNs. Enjoy unlimited simultaneous connections.

While it has a smaller server network than most providers (3,200+ spread across 100+ countries), it's fast, secure, and works with most region-specific websites and online services – including the major streaming sites.

It also works really well for torrenting. Surfshark doesn’t just allow P2P – it has dedicated servers supporting P2P apps. Whenever I opened one, Surfshark automatically connected me to the closest P2P server for fast downloads.

My favorite thing about Surfshark is its focus on privacy. While it includes all the industry standard features (including a strict no-logs policy, military-grade encryption, and leak protection), it also includes some unique tools that boost your privacy. These include a built-in ad blocker, malware and phishing protections, anti-cookie tracking tools, and much more. The result is a more private, “cleaner” internet experience.

Surfshark protects unlimited simultaneous devices on a single subscription. It has apps for iOS, Android, Mac, Windows, Linux, Playstation, Xbox, and numerous smart TVs, and extensions and plugins for every major browser. So, basically, almost every device you could possibly need to protect.

BEST BUDGET VPN: Surfshark costs significantly less than most premium VPNs – but hasn’t sacrificed security or performance. I also really appreciate its built-in privacy tools, which most VPNs don’t offer. Surfshark offers a 30-day money-back guarantee on all its plans.

ExpressVPN is one of the world's fastest, most secure VPNs. If you’re using a VPN to stream your favorite Brazilian shows, you'll never miss an episode – ExpressVPN works with every major streaming site.

I tested ExpressVPN by connecting to servers across the globe, and then logging into my accounts on Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, and GloboPlay. Every time, not only was I able to access the site without a hitch, but my connections were so fast that I could happily stream in HD!

ExpressVPN’s security credentials are also seriously impressive. The kill-switch kicked in immediately every time my connection was slightly disrupted, so my data and location were never revealed – even for a second. It also boasts numerous data encryption and protection protocols, including 4,096-bit RSA keys, SHA256 authentication, and 256-bit AES encryption. The DNS and IP leak protections also worked flawlessly.

All this performance, speed, and protection comes at a cost, however. ExpressVPN is by far the most expensive VPN on this list. While I think the investment is worth it, if you’re on a tight budget, there are plenty of excellent lower-cost options.

ExpressVPN covers up to five simultaneous connections.

SUPER-FAST VPN: ExpressVPN is an excellent choice for Brazil. Its focus on speed guarantees reliable connections, and it works with every streaming site I tested. The security is also incredibly robust, and you get a 30-day money-back guarantee upon signup.

CyberGhost is an excellent, easy-to-use VPN with an absolutely huge network of secure global servers. It has over 9,000 servers in 90+ countries – including 60+ in Brazil alone.

If you’re new to VPNs, you’ll appreciate how beginner-friendly CyberGhost is. It only takes a few minutes to set up, and the default configurations will be sufficient for most users to boost their security and access content from anywhere in the world. It also has dedicated servers for websites like Netflix, Hulu, BBC iPlayer, and plenty of other streaming sites across the globe – not to mention gaming and torrenting.

CyberGhost is also just as secure as other leading VPNs on this list. It offers everything from military-grade encryption and DNS/IPv6 leak protection to automatic kill-switches and a strict no-logs policy on up to seven simultaneous devices. The apps are all very similar, whether you’re using CyberGhost on your Windows PC or iPhone, and you can create standard settings across every device on your plan – another boost to CyberGhost’s user-friendliness.

CyberGhost is an excellent all-around choice if you need fast, reliable connections, access to content in and outside Brazil, and you’ve never used a VPN before. It offers 24/7 customer support on all plans.

BEGINNER-FRIENDLY: CyberGhost is great for your first VPN. It’s simple to set up and configure, with reliable, fast connections, and lots of servers in Brazil. You also get a 45-day risk-free money-back guarantee to test it out, and 24/7 customer support.

PrivateVPN is slightly smaller than the top VPNs on this list, but it can still compete with them all when it comes to speed, security, privacy, and accessing streaming content.

While its network of 200 server locations worldwide is much smaller than most VPNs on this list, I tested them thoroughly and was still impressed with the results. I could access every major streaming site, including hard-to-crack players like Netflix. The connections were fast enough to stream in HD, and I never had to pause or let the streams buffer.

PrivateVPN also offers plenty of excellent security. It packs in 256-bit AES encryption, DNS leak protection, and an automatic kill-switch – all of which I tested to confirm they worked effectively. You can keep the settings in their default when you install the VPN on your devices, or customize them to your specific needs – so PrivateVPN is a great option for both beginners and more advanced users.

It’s also excellent value. You can install PrivateVPN on up to 10 simultaneous devices, including smart TVs, some routers, and game consoles.

GREAT FOR STREAMING: PrivateVPN is a small but reliable VPN. It offers excellent value and quality features on up to 10 devices and works very well in Brazil. Includes a 30-day money-back guarantee.

I tested its servers with numerous streaming sites. While it worked with most, including Netflix and GloboPlay, I did struggle to gain access to many popular sites like Amazon Prime Video. So, keep this in mind, as you might need to configure your VPN settings to ensure access to some trickier streamers. However, PrivateVPN is one of the best VPNs for torrenting and Kodi home theater – in case that’s more important to you.

I also tested IPVanish’s security and privacy settings by downloading it onto five different devices in my household (Windows PC, iPhone, Android, etc.). On every device, it passed my tests with flying colors. The military-grade encryption, leak protections, and kill-switches all performed excellently, and I felt totally secure while the VPN was turned on.

One thing worth mentioning is that IPVanish is based in the U.S.A. While I trust their no-logs policy and other privacy guarantees, there are plenty of excellent VPNs on this list in much more privacy-friendly locations.

UNLIMITED DEVICES: IPVanish protects unlimited devices with excellent security. It’s got plenty of Brazilian servers, and many more across the globe to give you access to reliable, fast, open internet from anywhere. Every plan comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee.

I tested PIA thoroughly, connecting to servers around the world, downloading large files, and accessing every major streaming site (including all your favorite Brazilian streamers and sports channels). I never had an issue downloading or streaming – speeds remained fast and reliable throughout.

PIA’s focus on security and privacy also makes it a standout on this list. The default settings will be robust enough for most users to get started, but you also have plenty of options for customization, too. You can choose between different VPN protocols, including OpenVPN (the most secure) and WireGuard (the fastest). You can also customize features like your kill-switch, depending on your priorities.

All these settings and customization options might be a bit overwhelming for some users, especially if you’re new to VPNs. And they make PIA’s apps a bit difficult to use sometimes, compared to other VPNs on this list. But with 10 simultaneous connections on a single plan, PIA still offers excellent value, considering how many security features it packs in.

EXCELLENT FOR DOWNLOADING: Private Internet Access gives you access to fast, private downloads from Brazil – anywhere in the world. It offers huge customization options for advanced users, and covers up to 10 simultaneous devices. Every plan includes a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Atlas VPN is the newest provider on this list, but it’s already become a huge player in the VPN space.

Despite a smaller network of servers (just over 750 in 40+ locations), Surfshark still combines fast speeds, reliable connections, and access to every major streaming platform regardless of your location.

I also like its extra security features, which many top VPNs on this list are missing. Alongside industry-standard features and tools like military-grade encryption, airtight leak protection, and kill-switches, Atlas VPN also includes built-in malware protections and adblocking. So, with Atlas VPN turned on, you don’t just have a more secure internet experience, but a more enjoyable, less cluttered one, too.

Atlas VPN is also excellent value. While it's most well-known for its free plan, I think this is too limited for most internet users. The premium tier doesn’t cost a lot, covers unlimited simultaneous devices, and packs plenty of excellent features.

LOW-COST OPTION: Atlas VPN is a rising star in the VPN world. In just a few years, it’s blown up in popularity for its mix of security, privacy, and ability to access all of the internet – no matter your location. Despite its smaller network size, it still packs a big punch. Its paid plans are also covered by a 30-day money-back guarantee.

How to use a VPN in Brazil

Setting up a VPN in Brazil isn’t complicated. It’s similar to downloading any piece of modern software, and only takes a few minutes. Here are the quick steps involved.

How to use a VPN in Brazil:

  1. Sign up to a VPN with servers in Brazil. I recommend NordVPN.
  2. Download and install the app onto your device.
  3. Open the app and follow the setup instructions.
  4. Connect to a server. Most VPNs have a "Smart server” option to pick the fastest server close to you. But if you want to pick one in a specific country (i.e., the USA) or for a specific need (i.e., torrenting), that’s also really easy.
  5. That’s it!

To make the most of your VPN, download it to all your devices and install an extension on your web browsers. You should set it to run every time you start your devices and save your favorite servers for quick access.

If you still can’t access certain content after turning on the VPN, clear your browser’s cookies and cache and refresh the page. If that still doesn’t work, contact your VPN directly.

Methodology: how I tested the best VPNs for Brazil

We put every VPN through a series of rigorous tests before we recommend it. There are hundreds of VPNs out there, and we probably only recommend less than 5% – that’s how strict we are.

When it comes to picking a VPN for Brazil, we considered a few factors to help you make the right choice. They are:

  • A global server network: I’ve only recommended VPNs with a global network of fast, reliable servers – including locations in Brazil. This guarantees you a fast, reliable internet connection via your VPN, no matter where you are.
  • Fast connections: A VPN will always impact your connection slightly, especially if you’re connecting to servers far away. But I’ve only included VPNs that have invested in providing fast connections. In most cases, you won’t notice a difference, even when streaming.
  • Excellent security: Every VPN on this list provides military-grade 256-bit AES encryption to keep your data and location hidden. I also tested their leak protections and additional features like automatic kill-switches to ensure they lived up to their promises.
  • Access content from anywhere: Most VPNs get blocked by major streaming sites like Netflix. I tested each one to ensure they worked with streaming sites and other websites that use geo-restrictions. Not every one passed the tests, but I’ve noted this in their individual guides.
  • Ease of use: Just because VPNs are complex pieces of software doesn’t mean they should be difficult to use. I downloaded every VPN on numerous devices and tried them out extensively. Any that I struggled to use, I didn’t include.
  • Good value: Despite everything they offer, the best VPNs for Brazil don’t have to be expensive. I’ve only included providers with simple, affordable pricing, generous discounts, and risk-free money-back guarantees.

If you want to learn more about how I tested every aspect of the VPNs I’ve recommended, check out my quick testing methodology breakdown.

Can I use a free VPN in Brazil?

In theory, yes, you can use a free VPN in Brazil – but I don’t recommend it.

VPNs are complex, constantly changing software that have to keep up with the latest online threats and sophisticated hacking methods. This requires massive investment from the companies behind the VPNs – which is why we pay a small monthly fee for premium providers like NordVPN and SurfShark.

As free VPNs don’t charge a fee, they usually compensate for the shortfall in two ways:

1. They provide a low-quality product.

Free VPNs are usually slow, unreliable, and unable to access websites with geo-restrictions. They’ll also probably cap your data so only a tiny amount is covered by the VPN before you’re left unprotected.

2. They practice shady, dishonest business practices.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of bad actors in the VPN space – especially among free providers. If they’re not charging you a subscription fee, VPNs often profit off you by recording and selling your private data, injecting ads into your browsing, or even hosting malware on their networks.

VPN for Brazil FAQs

Are VPNs legal in Brazil?

Yes, VPNs are perfectly legal in Brazil. However, you’ll still be liable for any illegal or criminal activities while connected to the internet in Brazil via a VPN.

Also, we’re not legal experts. So, while we’ve researched this topic thoroughly to give you the most accurate answer possible, this guide should not be considered legal advice.

Which VPN has a Brazil server?

Many premium VPNs have servers in Brazil. My favorite, NordVPN, has over 20+ servers in the country. Other VPNs with servers in Brazil include Surfshark, ExpressVPN, and CyberGhost.

To connect to a server in Brazil, install the VPN on your device, open the app, and select Brazil from the menu of servers. You can let the app pick a server automatically or choose a specific server yourself.

Does NordVPN have Brazil covered?

Yes, NordVPN has over 20 servers in Brazil. Each one is optimized for speed, security, and hiding your location – plus other privacy features.

For example, NordVPN’s Brazil servers all have a strict no-logs policy, which means your browsing activity is never recorded on the servers. This guarantees that NordVPN can never access your data or be forced to provide it to a third party (like a government agency).

The servers also all work with streaming sites like Netflix, so if you’re leaving Brazil for a holiday and don’t want to miss your favorite shows, NordVPN guarantees you can access them.

How do I get a Brazilian VPN?

To get a Brazilian VPN, you need to sign up to a VPN with servers in Brazil – such as NordVPN and CyberGhost. This will give you access to an IP address in Brazil and any website or online service that works exclusively in the country.

Once you download the VPN to your device (including your laptop, phone, tablet, and in some cases, your WiFi router), you simply open the app and select a server in Brazil. It only takes a few minutes to set up, and you’ll have a Brazilian VPN.
